As an engineering firm, we donít believe that an off-the-shelf shock body is the appropriate solution for your Corvette.
Some will tell you that if youíve got 16 positions of damping adjustment, 15 of them will be wrong. We would argue that for 16 cars you need 16 unique settings, not to mention the needs of dual-purpose (street and track) cars. Our single damping adjuster controls both compression and rebound. The range of adjustment provides a wide choice of damping to accommodate both daily drivers and dedicated track cars. For example, most people like to drive to and from work with our coils set around 8, while for track days theyíll increase the damping to 12.
If the adjustability intimidates you itís only because itís something new for you Ė not because itís actually hard to do. Moreover, if you donít want to adjust them, you donít have to. We supply recommended starting points that offer a well balanced, well engineered setup that we actually run on our own cars. Itís the best of both worlds. If you choose a product that doesnít offer adjustable damping, your only option for setting up your car will be to change the springs. And if you change the springs without the ability to adjust the damping accordingly, youíve just ruined the ďperfectly balanced systemĒ that you thought you bought. Pfadt, along with manufacturers like Moton and Penske all understand the necessity of adjusting the damping to perfect the handing.
One of the key advantages of our coil over kit is the flexibility with setting ride height. Our shock bodies are fully threaded and thread into (or out of) the lower mounting cup giving you the ability to adjust the overall shock length by about 3 inches. Itís no problem to maintain stock ride height or slam it nice and low. The important thing about changing ride height by using our threaded body is that you donít have to sacrifice shock travel to lower the car.
Compared to the stock C6 Z06 leaf springs, our coil overs are approximately 50% stiffer. Pfadt brand components are strong, lightweight and tested for dependability and durability. Our mounting cups are custom designed brushed aluminum for functionality and elite appearance. Our Pfadt coil springs are engineered, built, and tested not to take a set.
The installation is straightforward and does not require any modifications to the chassis. These coil overs will bolt right on. You just need to remove the leaf spring.
